I have recently purchased a housekeeping book in a junk shop here in Surrey. I thought I would share some of the family history written at the back. It is most confusing as to whom the book belonged because I believe it has been handed down and added to over the l800's, however the book formed part of the estate of an Ellen GRIFFITHS, 23rd March l896. I believe it was also owned by a Susan Augusta PIPON.If any of the information below should prove to be of interest, please do get in touch.
"My dear father Hugh Maurice SCOTT born at Coventry lst March l779 married 23rd feb. l807 to Susanna SMITH born l3th March l780. He died at Bombay 8th October l827 and Susanna in Douglas 25th Sept. l862. gone. One child Emma born l8th October l809 married 24th Nov l825 John GRIFFITHS by Rev. Carr at St. Thomas Bombay. lst Child Emma Elizabeth 29th May 1827 married W. ADAMS, Douglas 3rd May l850. Another six children named born in Bombay, then Caroline Laura Jane b. 25th Dec l844 Douglas married l2th August l873 to Rev. John Hardy RAVEN and finally Clara Louisa b. l9th July l847, Douglas, married l9th September l872 to J.C. Coode Esq." Lots more....
There are pages of family details, a full life history of Hugh SCOTT, Major in H.M. 6th Regiment and Commandant of the Garrison of Bombay, eldest son of the late William SCOTT of the same Regt. etc. etc.
Would be happy to share the remaining information if anyone interested.
