Re: Looking for roots of a Canadian Quirk Family

Hi - My husbands grandfather was James Edward Quirk - born July 3, 1881 - Struggan Rushen - Registration District of Arbory. Father was Michael Quirk (Joiner) Mother Emily Quirk nee Harrison. Mother died while James was young. Its our understanding, father could not take care of younger children, hence they were sent to an orphanage. James, his brother John and his sister Annie came over to Canada on what he called an orphan ship circa 1890 and put out to work for farmers(?) Annie married a Peter MacDonald (no other facts known by us) Don't know who John married but we know he had at least one daughter. Also info given to us by grandfather was that he had a sister Bella married to a John Quine - Sister Hester married to (?) Jones and a sister Emily maried to a Henry Duke (they had 2 sons to his recollection) Grandpa Quirk was born in Port Erin IOM. Any info about these families would be interesting to us. P>S>Grandson James Quirk plans to visit IOM in May Doreen
