I recall this gentleman coming up for discussion some time ago (possibly on the B/B) - with a change of machine I no longer have easy access to my archives but maybe someone else can recall it.
Must admit the probability of an Italian being named Rome must be somewhat low - one wonders if he was born with that name.
They were still in Maughold (actually they lived in Ramsey, Quines Court) part of which is in Maughold, in 1881 - she was claiming Douglas birth then as well.
Marriage at age 16 was rather unusual for the Manx - they married young but not that young. Their eldest son age 19 claimed welsh birth but gave no town.
