I am looking for information on a member of my family who arrived in the US in 1740. he lists his place of birth an Isle of Mann. here is what i know in terms of history before 1740. there is a John quail of Reachtabra mentioned as being a brother of fiachra-au-gaircedh who ws the 97th in the vera-osullivan pedigree and was the ancestor of o'cuil and heir to seachasach quail. all the pages i have looked at re: manx history never lists the spelling "quail" for the name. the family had a crest and a motto "qualis ero spero". can anyone help with information-or does anyone else trace their ancestory back to these folks? thanks
