After you had posted the message I went searching again for 'Captain of the Parish' as another of our relatives had been one. This time I came across this website http://www.parishcaptains.com/ which gives a lot of information. I noticed that it was James and not John. Thanks I will still look up the information on John. It all helps to build the complete picture of the family.
