I am trying to track down any information on a branch of my family last heard of in the Isle of Man.
Thomas Conway was the son of Lawrence Conway and Bridget McHale, born in Mayo about 1840.
He married Mary McMullen (possibly from Antrim) and settled near Consett, Co. Durham before 1871 where their son Thomas was born.
They moved to the Isle of Man between 1881 & 1891. Brian Lawson kindly provided me with the following census extract.
1891, Douglas, district 8, schedule 23, 23 Church Street Thomas Conway, head, married, 51, labourer, Ireland Mary, wife, married, 51, Ireland Thomas, son, single, 25, servant, Durham
Son Thomas married Margaret Smith in Douglas on 26th April 1891
Mary died 23 April 1902 in Douglas aged 61
Thomas (snr) died in the House of Industry, Douglas on 11 Feb 1915
If anyone has any information on these Conways, I would be very grateful if you could drop me an email, on
Richard.conway@homecall.co.uk
Thanks
Richard
