Hi Shelley, many thanks for your response.No I haven't run into Thomas Gale/Corkish on my travels yet! Infact I know nothing about William and Margaret and their children. However I am a descendent of Margaret's brother Thomas Karran and wife Maragret Gell. This is on my gradmother's line.
The reason I wanted to find out about William and Maragaret is because I am trying to confirm the parents of John Keig (1843-1906). When John (farmer, Ballawinican) got married to Jane Moore in 1868 at Rushen the register gives his father as being a Thomas Kegg. It has been suggested that really his parents were William Keig and Margaret Karran, although I'm not yet convinced and I don't know why an incorrect father's name would be entered in the PR. Any ideas on that? It would give me a link into the same Karran family on my grandfather's line too I suppose.
