This is quite a long message, so I hope you have the patience to read it !
My Gt Gt Grandmother's (Sarah Mylrea b. 27 March 1836 - date confirmed in a Birthday book I have of hers) father was Philip Mylrea (a Stone-mason - name confirmed on her Marriage Certificate) her mother Jane Moore.
The IGI has his birth as abt. 1793 in Douglas, there is also a Christening entry with the date 12 May 1793 - in Bradden, giving the parents names as Wm. Mylrea and Jane Taggart.
Janes birth is given as abt. 1797.
The marriage date was abt. 1818. There is an entry giving the date 4 July 1818 in Bradden.
I am really interested in Sarah's siblings. The following are entries on the IGI are in order of the Christening dates, all give the parents names as Philip Mylrea and Jane Moore.
1) Elizabeth Mylrea 04 Sept. 1823
2) Elizabeth Mylrea 04 Sept 1823 - St Barnabas, Douglas (are these two the same?)
3) Sarah Ellen Mylrea 16 Dec 1827 - St George, Douglas
4) John Joseph Mylrea 05 Oct 1833 - St Matthews, Douglas
5) John Joseph Mylrea 27 May 1836 - St Barnabas, Douglas
6) Sarah Mylrea 27 May 1836 - St Barnabas, Douglas
7) Elizabeth Mylrea 09 Jan 1840 - St Barnabas, Douglas
Brian Lawson kindly found them for me before on the 1851 Census. Philip's age was given 58 (so approx DOB 1793) Jane was 56 (DOB abt. 1795), their children were listed as John, 17 (DOB abt. 1834) Elizabeth, 15 (DOB abt. 1836) and Sarah 14 (DOB abt. 1837).
The second entry for John @ No. 5 gives the same Christening date for Sarah @ No. 6. I do know that this can happen so assume that he is correct. I asume the entry @ No. 7 must be the one for Elizabeth.
What I would like is if anyone could possibly confirm any of these details for me including the parents names for Jane and Philip.
If they married in 1818 and the first child's birth can be confirmed as about 1834, this seems an awfully long gap.
Can anyone help me with the possibilty that the earlier entries are children that did not survive, but they used the same Christian names - I know of other cases where this has happened. I have found no trace of their deaths.
Any help would be very greatly appreciated.
