Happened upon your question concerning Crennell. A few years ago an Alan Crennell from England asked why our town, Crafton Borough in Pennsylvania, USA, had a Crennell Street. A bit of looking in the US census records from 1900 found a William Crennell Jr who lived in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, born in 1872 in the State of New York, and whose parents came from the Isle of Man. Further research found a William Crennell living in Rochester, New York in 1880. He was born in England in 1835. I could not find when he came to the US, but this is probably the same William Crennell who was a 27-year old soldier who fought in the Battle of Gettysburg in the US Civil War.
