are you possibly confusing it with the Herring Tower incorporated into the rebuilt Douglas Head hotel (now block of flats ) ? - this was never a lighthouse but a landmark though it is possible, as in the one on Langness, a beacon was lit during the herring season, though Douglas Head light would have removed any need for this after 1833
