The IGI has a marriage for John Collister and Elizabeth Ann Starkey at Braddan on 23 Dec 1882. I believe the marriage certificate names her father as William Starkey and one of the witnesses as Margaret Starkey.
Brian Lawson’s Births Index lists four children to John Collister & Elizabeth Ann Starkey:
John George (1883), William (1885), Robert Arthur (1888) and Edwin (1890). Then Brian shows burials in Santon for what I am guessing are two of the children, William Collister (1886) and Edwin Collister (1891).
These two burials tie in with an inscription I saw on a headstone in Santon churchyard which read “In memory of John Collister who departed this life March 19, 1891, aged 31 years. Also Willie and Edwin, children of the above who died in infancy.” What was more confusing however was the rest of the inscription (not included in the manxnotebook transcription) which is for "his wife Elizabeth Ann (Clarke)”.
I saw you were interested in both the Clarke and Starkey surnames and wondered if you could throw any light on this puzzle.
