James the blacksmith's place at Ballashloe was known as "Jimmy Jem's". This family originally came from Ballajora, Maughold.

According to Constance Radcliffe, there were two Corkill families farming in Ballajora in Maughold, and one family was identified by the nickname "Dick" to distinguish them from the many other Corkill families.
There was John 'Dick' Corkill c.1715-1796 and John 'Juan Dick' 1747-1823 [from land records]. Later descendants from the Ballajora (Dick) family were still known by this name added to their own. She wrote "Corkill Dick was so firmly attached to this family that it was several times used in the burials register, and is sometimes heard colloquially today" [1979].

I've looked at this family before. Details given to me by a descendant were:
The first Corkill identified from land records for this family was Thomas, a Patrick land holder who died in 1511 [Thomas McCorkell of Ballajorra]; next recorded at Ballajorra was Jon d.1669, then James d.1689 [marr. Joney Callow]. The clear lineage starts with Ewan 1688-1754, marr. Isabel d.1748; then his son John (Dick) c1715-1796; then his son John (Juan Dick) 1747-1823 marr. Margaret Cannell of Ballaskeally Onchan 1772; then their family:
John 1773-1859, no issue, inherited Ballajora farm
Patrick 1774-1843 purchased intack on Dreemskerry Hill opposite Thomas's intack, his son John Robert who d.1852 was the last owner & occupant of the Staff Land.
Thomas 1777-1869 marr. Margaret Fargher, purchased intack on Dreemskerry Hill opposite Patrick's intack.
Edward b.1780
Andrew 1785-6
Mary b.1787
William b.1790
James 1793-1870, mason, marr Margaret Callow d.1863; son James b.1823 blacksmith (Jemmy Jem's) at Ballasloe, marr. Margaret Clague, their son James b.1858.
