Re: New Web Resource

I'm sorry if you take it as petty and I'm not trying to be nasty or hypercritical or being clever - I've had several comments from blind readers thanking me and commenting that they can use my site whereas they say others are effectively blocked for them, usually unwittingly; it was after discussion with one such that I realised just how key it was to them whereas to the fully sighted it seems totally unimportant . There used to be a free checking tool called Bobby that marked all these pitfalls - I know all US/UK gov sites had to meet such requirements under the various disability acts and there is at least one commercial tool that checks for compliance-I suspect all you need do is to put alt tags against each picture then the meaning of the picture is understandable to those using non standard (to us) browsers - viewing with images turned off is a quick way of checking that your site is accessible (as well as in practice both speeding up loading (eye candy consumes bandwidth and not all are on unmetered hi speed), avoiding trackers and recently, if using IE avoiding a potential virus entry path, - MS even issued a special patch for this) - re the tag you quote, yes it fails strict checking as it should be quoted as "baseline" though under the transitional rules a =followed immediately by tag is ok (at least it was when I last checked thru a validator).
