Thanks Donna,
I actually have this info but via the message board have contacted a Richie descendant in Australia who has suggested there may be more Richies. She is from the line of the youngest child of Colin and Jenny, Thomas, who may well have been born after the family moved to Surrey. I am from the illigitimate child, Mary Richie, of their second son Colin Richie, and one of the Stafford daughters. Mary was born in Inch, in 1837, although I can find no reference to her birth. I assume this followed a return visit to Inch by the Richie family, or at least the teenage Colin, but shortly after her birth, Mary Richie moved to the IOM with her grandparents, the Staffords. This Colin Richie who I believe was the son of Colin and Jenny went on to become a solicitor which matches the profession on Mary Richie's marriage certificate - so I think I have the right family. The Australian lady says she has a paper which states that Colin Richie senior and Jenny Irwin (Irvin(g)) had a "marriage" ceremony in County Down, Ireland around the same time as the one in Inch. Can anyone shed any light on what this second event might have been as the marriage was clearly registered at Inch, Wigtownshire?
