Thank you Muriel that has helped me. Have you managed to trace William's father, another William born abt 1825 Santan. He was a butcher in Ballaugh and appears to have died 1871 and possibly just before this the family moved to Malew. I think he is the William Gawne buried 24 Feb 1871 in Malew. His wife Ann Callister had previously been married to ?Kinnin and was buried 9 Feb 1890 in Bride. She had a son John T. Kinnin born 1841. As well as William Gawne they had Ann Jane and Edward. Does this tally with your findings. If any of the above is wrong please let me know.
