I think every quarterland farm must have had a brewing pan - maybe I should check the names re the holders (often women are set down for Bras Rent) but most I think were ale houses - the numbers tally, mostly female licensees etc but don't think it disagrees with the 'right to have a brewing pan' as all alehouses would also brew their own.
