guess should correct that - the newspaper contents are not indexed but BMD's up to c.1868 IIRC are indexed on cards - these were done by volunteers and include both manx and non-Manx entries - Large scale obits didn't really come in until later in century (eg look at those in Manx quarterly) - if you gave a little more info re your searches I might be able to comment if looking at Methodist journals might help.
