on the cd rom version of my pages there is both a tranbcription of the Peel 1841 census and a copy of the 1869 25inch/mile plan of Peel - it would appear the enumerator walked down Castle st (then big st), into Crown st (then Sand st) and then the 4 houses in a little cul-de-sac approx where today's Iris pumping station is (this is I think on or very close to the site of the 1815 barracks which had been sold off very shortly afterwards as redundant - it's not only today that Goverment can waste money !)
