Hello, I was wondering if anyone could help in a bit of family research. My mother in-laws father was born in the Isle of Man. His name was Alfred Carine on marriage certificate (or John Alfred on my mother in laws birth certificate!). On his marriage certificate in 1915 he is listed as aged 40 and living at 6 Mercer Street Liverpool, being an able seaman. There is an Alfred Carrin living at the same address on the 1901 census aged 32. These could be one and the same as I know that errors do occur in census forms. My problem is being able to trace him back any further without knowing a place of birth. His father is listed on the marriage certificate as John Carine (listed as deceased on the certificate) There is a possible on the 1891 census for a boat 'pet' with all members being born in Rushen. I would be grateful for any suggestions on how I might persue this further as there seem to be a lot of Carines on the Isle of Many (as there are Hughes, williams, Jones, Cains, Traceys and Catts on the other side of my family! Many thanks
Regards Diane
