I found this in my data bank. G.D. Stawell in a "Quantock" family quotes a deed in the possession of Canon T. A. Stowell (1831 - 1916) bearing the Stawell Arms Seal and signed by William Stowell of Herebeare, Devon for the sale of some land in 1629. This is taken as suggesting this branch of Stowell's descended from Somerset Stawells via Devon Stowells and maybe have newly arrived in the Isle of Man, in the early 17th cent, possible identity and family connection.
