I do not have a lot to add apart from the fact that the Waterford Steamship Co was bought by the Clyde Shipping Co in 1912.
Looking at the census entry for 1901 revealed that the ship had a crew of 13 with the following from the Isle of Man:

Malcolm Gawne abt 1861 Isle of Man, Isle of Man 2nd Mate
Robert Linton abt 1864 Isle of Man, Isle of Man Crew
James Mc Quiggin abt 1874 Isle of Man, Isle of Man Crew
John Moore abt 1860 Isle of Man, Isle of Man Crew
M Qualtrough abt 1877 Isle of Man, Isle of Man Crew
Evan Quirk abt 1868 Isle of Man, Isle of Man Crew

On the second page the ship was described as coming from the port of Liverpool, a Steamer of 293 tonnage and where it says 'how employed' it says 'Home & Coasting Co'. Its Official Number (ON) is 86004. The latter I also found on the Mariners Mailing List site which added the following:
Year adopted - 1883
Port of Registry - Waterford
A further search on ON 86004 revealed absolutely nothing but on the Clyde Shipping website it did say that a number of its ships were acquistioned for use in WW1 but no names mentioned.
That's about it for now.
