Bit complicated....my gr.gr.gran married on the IOM, (1856) had a child,(1858) left said child with grandparents (?if husband had died) and ended up living with a married man in the slums of Chorlton on Medlock where my Gr. gran was born(1867). Interestingly, my Gr gran states that her father was the first husband, not the "slum" father who actually appears on her birth certificate......maybe that's what her mother told her to cover up the illigitimacy. The family on the IOM actually lived in Athol Court, then Athol Square which may not have been anywhere near Athol Street. Anything with a "Court" address in Manchester was the worst slum conceivable! I don't imagine there was anything so bad on the IOM.
