If you are looking for Civil Registration Index data for England and Wales, you may like to know that ancestry.co.uk have now made access to on-line images of the BMD Index free.
They are also allowing free access to the 1901 census for England and Wales (not IOM unfortunately!) whilst the TV series 'Who do you think you are?' is run.
