The surname Beckerleg is uncommon in the Isle of Man but one or two families arrived from Cornwall, presumably following the mining industry.

Charles Oliver Beckerleg seems to have arrived from Breage in Cornwall. He married Sage Wade in 1881 in the parish of Malew.
IGI records him as Beckerley.

Charles was a blacksmith working out of Circular Road in Douglas.

There were a number of children, some died young, but by 1901 the following is listed in the census.

Charles Beckerleg 45 England
Sage 40 German
Charles 18 Douglas
Florence 15 Douglas
James 11 Douglas
Thomas 9 Douglas

I'm guessing that James is the Oliver James you are enquiring about, therefore aged C.77 on death.

Details can be found in manx notebook, Brian Lawson's indexes and IGI.
