Ann Jane RADCLIFFE married Robert BANNON

In Nov. 2004 there were a number of messages as to which Ann Jane RADCLIFFE married Robert BANNAN/BANNON.

Ann Jane Radcliffe b.1839 was either the daughter of John R. & Ann Skeally [bapt Andreas 29 Sept 1839] or of John R. & Catherine Corlett of Ballavastyn [bapt Andreas 11 July 1839].

Robert Bannon laborer Andreas, father Robert Bannon shoemaker, & Ann Radcliffe Andreas, father John Radcliffe farmer, married 21 July 1860. Witness was John James Radcliffe [son of John R. & Cath Corlett].

Jane Marshall wrote:
According to the censuses John, husband of Catherine Corlett and later Ann Jane Kissack was the farmer. John, husband of Ann Skeally, is variously described as a labourer or slate quarrier so it looks like Corlett as indicated by Robert Corlett Bannin's (sic) middle name.

Despite some family trees which give John Radcliffe & Ann Skeally as the ancestors of this Bannon family, what Jane wrote is now confirmed as correct.

In the 1861 census the Ballavastyn household of John Radcliffe & wife Catherine includes: Sarah A Bannan Granddaughter aged 2, born Andreas [Sarah Radcliffe bapt 30 Oct 1858 illeg. dau of Ann Radcliffe. Sarah Ann Bannan bur 14 Dec 1864 aged 5 years.]
