John the painter is I believe one of the sons found in Pitt St in 1832 (and where I hoped the family might still be in 1841 as I'd hoped his father's age might be determined) - the 1851 sighting however is very useful as this confirms that John as son of George Redfern and Margaret Quiggin - wife, English born (? Liverpool) Sarah Bridson who had some children on the Island (though at least 1 died in infancy) before moving to Liverpool.
The Josiah is from a Flintshire based Redfern family established there for some time, tho originally from Derbyshire, attracted by the lead-mining.
