Yes, thanks Brian - I've checked all entries in the Manx Notebook, (including the Directories), and as well several census entries. All refer to the "Commercial Hotel/Inn" at 33, 34 or 35 N. Quay, Douglas as owned/operated by James Bell. The British Commercial Hotel was owned by a Thomas Dixon at one point, and any other proprietors do NOT include my James Bell.
So, I'm definitely looking for the COMMERCIAL. I'm wondering now if anyone who has a copy of the publication authored by Suzanne Cubbon titled "Manx Inns-a Pub Crawl Through History", might be able to tell me if there is a photo/sketch of the Commercial in her book? If so, I can purchase the book from Lexicon Books on the Isle.
Many thanks again Brian.
