As I said Moore did not treat the name Quiggin so I have no authority to fall back on (and I don't have access to my other textbooks at the moment) - certainly it is found in this form in Arbory as early as 1600 - there was a MHK Peter McQuiggin noted in 1429 which is one of the earliest possible Manx references (tho the name may have been 'tidied up' by the transcriber tho quoted in this form in Mills Statutes)
The Balla-wiggin quitted by Feltham is the only occurance in this form though W W Gill quotes the form Balla-wiggan -"Ballawiggan, " Quiggin's Farm," is the older form of the present " Wigan " ; it is thus written so late as the Malew Parish Register, for, I think, 1795-my note of it has suffered a mishap. " which is of the same era
