Re: Elizabeth Curphey
In Response To: Re: Elizabeth Curphey ()

Thanks for your message!

The information I have is from my sister. I don't know how accurate it is.

I have John Curphey (b. abt 1749 in Lezayre) married on Sept. 24, 1774 in Lezayre to Dorothy Teare (b. about 1753 in Lezayre).

Children listed as John (May 5, 1775), Isabel (Aug. 8, 1777), Wm. (Sept. 6 1781), Mary Jane (June 24, 1785), Thomas (Aug. 24, 1788), Ann (April 3, 1791), Charlotte (1793), Edward (June 3, 1794), Jane (April 10, 1798), Mary Ann, and Joe (May 1799). I think this list is incomplete/inaccurrate.

Ann Curphey (b. March 4, 1791, d. 1863) married William Garret on Nov. 17, 1814 in Lezayre and immigrated to the US in 1848 with her daughter Jane and granddaughter Elizabeth. Somewhere in my dad's papers are letter written to Jane from one of her siblings who stayed. My grandmother found Ann and William's headstones in a cemetary in Wisconsin, but I don't think she took any photographs.

My line is (1) Dorothy Teare & John Curphey; (2) Ann Curphey (m. William Garret); (3) Jane Garret (child with Reynolds (a dance instructor from England)); (4) Elizabeth Garret (m. John Walker); (5) Phoebe Walker (m. Howard Baker); (6) Gertrude Baker (m. Joseph Weix); (7) Joseph Weix II (m. Cynthia Davis); (8) Louisa Weix (me); (9) Eliza and Julia Weix

I have very solid information on Jane down, good information about Ann and William, and some information about John and Dorothy.

If you are interested I can try and find the letters which might have some reference to Elizabeth. Hope some of this helps!!

Louisa
