So then the date of 1771 which co-incides with Brians website on death index of 3/ 4/1853 at Rushen is probably the correct birth date.
I also wonder if David's parents are Samuel & Ann Watts from Brian Lason's list of wills E jw 0106403.

I believe from reading the IOM census for Edward & James Watts that the reason for Robert Watts settling in this area of the USA was because of the farming and also lead ore mines which may have been similar to what his family was doing on IOM.
