As Francis has pointed out, Gale is not a Manx name but it does appear as a variation of Gell/Gill (and then there is Killey).

My earliest records are for the 1841 census.
You'll have to establish when he arrived in the US.
There are no emigration records but you might be able to find something in the US Immigration records.
