I'm afraid this year it wasn't just a damp squib but a totally washed out one - we had the fly-past but very quiet as the clouds were too low, then as the ceremony progressed more & more rain fell - the funniest bit was the staff rushing out with large rolls of paper towels to mop up the water that had gathered on the chairs - the Captains of parishes were the worst affected as they got no cover from the great umbrella and as one remarked, he had only just warmed up his puddle before having to stand for the National Anthems and then had to repeat the process !
