Re: re Chatel/Teare families
In Response To: re Chatel/Teare families ()

Greetings Raina. You may remember that I e-mailed you back in December 2002 after Susanne DOUGHERTY was kind enough to pass on your address. Since that time, I have only been able to find an LDS entry for;
Eugene A. CHATEL.
Born/Baptised 30.6.1872 Paris, France.
Father: Eugene CHATEL born abt.1846 France.
Mother: Annie LEICE born abt. 1850 France. Eugene Augustus aged 8 is found on the 1881 census with Thomas & Janet/Jennet LEECE (stated to be his grandparents) at Croit e Caley. I.O.M. It can be presumed that the LDS. entry of Eugene's mother being born in France is incorrect along with the incorrect spelling of her surname. As I wrote you, Thomas & Janet LEECE are my 3xgt. grandparents. I am still looking for any information which would explain how one of Thomas' daughters would have met Eugene A's. father and why he was brought back to the Island to (I presume) be raised by his maternal grandparents. I am sorry that I don't have any good information for you, but I am still on the lookout and I ask that you keep me in mind if anything comes your way. A few kind people did e-mail me a couple of years ago with little bits of information about Eugene A. so I will check back in my files to see of there is anything that may be of interest to you.
Best wishes from Australia.
Annette MURPHY.
