William Stitt Patterson was born approx 1870 on Isle of Man - to parents William and Jane Patterson (both born in Ireland).
He had a brother, John Patterson, born 1875.

William married a Sarah Jane Kirkland (approx 1893) and had three children - Sarah, Ethel and Ralph.

Between 1901 and 1915 William and Sarah moved to Birkenhead, Merseyside, England and lived there until he died in 1932.
