I carried out the genealogical research on this family down to Thomas Qualtrough. The final link has been made by Elizabeth.
The family in Lonan particularly was notable for the absence of any parish register information, and the research was heavily dependent on other records such as deeds, wills, land records, manorial records. I gave a talk to the IOM Family History Society based on this research, and I had hopes it would go on the web at some stage. Elizabeth and John Kelly have had access to the copy documents. There is a large file full of these.
If doubt is cast on any particular link, I will be pleased to try and advise where the particular proof came from.
The link between Malew and Lezayre, altho' considered unlikely by Frances, is documented in the following record:
Kk Malew Presentments Nov 8th 1789
Margt Cross [presented] for fornication an illegitimate child born.
Chapter Court Castletown 12 Nov 1789
This woman hath deposed upon the Holy Evangelists that Thomas Qualtrough of the parish of Lezayre now off the Isle is father of her illegitimate child.
