Some months ago I posted a message about the above, unfortunately nobody was able to help, except for Sue Pedersen. Alfred Radcliffe
was my wifes g/uncle, he was a younger brother of my wifes grandfather, the only time
that we saw mention of Alfred was in the Bride
census of 1891 , Alfred was living with his parents at Citten Cottage Dog Mills, his age was given as 8yrs, there was no other written
evidence of Alfreds existence, until I obtained a copy of my wifes g/aunt Margarets will, to our surprise Margaret named her brother Alfred and his son John as beneficiaries, this was at the time of Margarets death 02 Aug 1952, my wife had always maintained that she
had been told as a child that she had cousins in Australia, here she believed was some solid
proof. The ever reliable Sue Pedersen checked
the Melbourne shipping indexes and found one
passenger who fitted, in Jan 1909 a ship called
Everton Grange docked in Melbourne, there was a passenger on board called Alfred Radcliffe, his age was 27. This could well be our Alfred Radcliffe, we have our fingers crossed that it will be as promising as it would
appear, nevertheless if anyone out there has any crumb of information regarding Alfred we
would be indebted.
