I have come across the descriptor "yeoman" in an old document This word may have several meanings in wider use, including an assistant or other subordinate of a sheriff or a diligent, dependable worker or just a farmer who cultivates his own land.
Can anyone please provide a more accurate definition of this word in a Manx context?
