We have a town called Douglas but most of those with a family name Douglas are Scots
I'm in Peel - but those with the name Peel are usually English - I'm not sure what those with the name Ramsey are ?

Manx family names developed along somewhat different lines than those of the English - however many English (specifically Lancashire) placenames became common Manx names due to the Stanley control including the supposedly 'supremest' Manx name of Skillicorn

Mann as a spelling of Man was adopted by some to avoid confusion with the Isle of Mar by others as being supposedly a better englishing of Mannin (in Manx 'Isle of Man' is 'Ellan Vannin' as M -> V for a genitive - thus if the placename would have been used as a family name it would have been Mannin or more likely Vannin)
