Joshua Hughes-Games was born plain Joshua Jones but adopted the name Hughes-Games to meet a condition in a will so the name had already died out before he adopted it - BTW one of his daughters married A.W.Moore but on his death married G.F.Clucas - another old Manx name but in this case also 'adopted' !
The burner of the papers at Milntown was actually the daughter - see p19 of 'Yesterdays behind the doors' - unmarried daughter Isabella of deemster John Cristian in 1852 which as Basil Megaw said "the bonfire at Milntown is one of the most depressing episodes in the long saga of the Christian family"
