apologies previous message lost!!
The story behind Allan's request came about when we asked my sister, Anne could she photograph a silver Bollan Cross [see www.kissack.co.uk] that her husband Ian had given to her, and during the search they came upon this WW1 medal which they originally thought was my Dads.
However as I already had that medal, it was found from the inscription on the rim to belong to a Robert T Crellin.
This raised quite a few questions which we would like to solve:
How/why did my Dad have this medal, as it would have been awarded AFTER hostilities had ceased ?
Did they serve together through the war years
from France into Germany?
Assuming that Robert was Manx, did they
know each other before call-up?
Our obvious concern is that Roberts medal be returned to his family and any help in this would be appreciated
