Donna
I'm not looking for money - like Brian I do it primarily for my own enjoyment (I know that sounds rather self-centred but I suspect it must be true of all those who contribute to the wider area of open-source software and publications, it is pleasureable to see others benefit from your work, that is why I always feel cheated by plagarists who 'steal' my work to present as their own) - I adjust what I can do based on the money I'm prepared to spend, now retired my time is relatively cheap but I am a little more careful with my pennies.
Luckily the sales of the CD at the Manx Museum (they charge a little more than I do) are more successful than I thought (some 50 a year) so I cover basic costs by that income stream plus the support of Duke Video who host this site.

99% of the time it is enjoyable though sometimes (seldom if ever on this board) I get a reader who having paid his/her ISP believes that gives them a right to instant personal service.

For many like Brian and myself the introduction of a small micropayment/page view (eg 0.5c) would be of major benefit but that technology is not yet here and though there is a well tried alternative subscription mechanism (eg 20 views for $5 as in Ancestry or 1901 census) I would prefer to keep a free at point of use scheme - and if I'm given info as in this case the wills from Joyce I always put it on-line - my off-line cd-only sections contain only that material where this is relatively infeasible (large images) or has cost me significant time/effort/money to acquire.

However Sue's point is well taken - I should update my search mechanism to allow finding pages modified/created after a certain date.
