Hello. A few years ago someone told me about a very good web site which described the origins of the CORKILL, CORKHILL surname - which started out as the Scottish (Celtic) surnames, McCORKILL / MacCORKELL, etc.
I saw a posting on another Board / List this week which reminded me of that web site, and a Google search could not find it.
I did find several other smaller web sites which told of the different names mentioned above in regards to the different Clans they were part of.
I was wondering if anyone knew the URL of the web site I'm remembering.
(FYI: Actually it was someone on one of the Australian Lists looking for information on the COCK / COCKS surname, and I was just curious if that was a shortened version or a variation in spelling of the CORKILL / CORKHILL surname.)
Also, during my 4+ years of learning about the names, I have seen it spelled both COCKILL and CORNHILL. (Someone in Australia with the CORNHILL surname thought he was the only one in his country with that name.)
(In addition to Evan and Elizabeth CORKILL's five children "being sent to Canada" (as "British Home Children"), several other children with variations on that surname were "sent over.")
