Re: Deemster Ewan Christian
In Response To: Re: Deemster Ewan Christian ()

Greetings, I was browsing the Isle of Man
website and in the genealogy section I
read some of your messages.
First of all I am from the USA. My mother's
family were Christian's. The first to come
to this country was Thomas Christian, who
settled in New Kent County, Virginia in the
early 1700's. Purchased land in 1715.
About 50 years ago a silver spoon with
the coat of arms of the Christians was
found in the ruins of one of the old houses.
We think Thomas was the son of John Christian
of Milntown but have no proof.

While visiting Australia I found a book called
"Fragile Paradise" it is written by Glen Christian
who is a direct decendent of Fletcher Christian.
The book is an account of the mutiny and
has some history of the Christian family.

Just thought I'd write since I have always
heard that our ancestors are from the Isle of Man.
