In the latest IOMFHS Journal just out, the Qualtrough article which appears on pp 128-134 contains 2 research errors which were located since the article was written in late May, 04
1. Midway down p129 - Re:Thomas Qualtrough of Kentraugh bn "1772" who married Jane Qualtrough in 1794.
A mathematical error on my part finds him bn c 1762 not c1772, (he died 1838 aged 76) therefore he appears not to be the son of Thos Q & Martha Holland (married 1772 in Liverpool).
He (Thos bn c1762) is definitely of this line of Kentraugh Qualtroughs as he is mentioned in his grandmother's will (Elizabeth Qualtrough als Gawn) in 1798. Which of Elizabeth Gawn Qualtrough's sons (or daughters!) he is the son of I do not know, suffice to say that he could be illegitimate (an assumption of course), but parish records not being complete, his parentage may never be known. (NB Elizabeth Gawn Qualtrough was the 2nd w/o Capt William Qualtrough of Kentraugh and they had 10 children.)
2 Bottom page 131 - Re: Jane Qualtrough bn 1814 who married Edward Costain in Arbory in 1834... This marriage is not correct, although a Jane Qualtrough did marry an Edward Costain. at this time. Thus the children mentioned here also do not belong to this line.
My apologies. The corrections will also be published in the next Journal.
Kind regards
Elizabeth
