Hello to All IOM Family History Researchers: I am looking for information on William Barrie who resided until his death at The Cliff - Cresent- Douglas, Isle of Man. His date of death is 4 Feb 1873 and he is buried in a local cemetery (I do have the plot number and the inscription on his headstone). I am hoping to find out how I can locate what house "The Cliff(e) or Cliffs" at Cresent in Douglas would have been...... and secondly I am wanting to know how I can find out the "cause of death". There don't seem to be any death certificates available and contact several years ago with the parish priest (as Wm Barrie was Catholic) was met with no joy and a rude or turse reply to an inquiry. At that time of 1873, would Douglas have had a local newspaper and would there possibly have been an obituary printed? Can anyone advise me on this... Thank you kindly.
