Re: John J. Cannon: Brooklyn & Cleveland, Ohio, 18

Hello Len,

Thanks for the suggestion. I think you may be right.

After looking at the IGI, I wonder if other children of Philip Cannon/Margaret Lewin were also in the Cleveland area.

Eleanor baptized December 15, 1811; Margaret baptized August 15, 1819.

Eleanor Cannon, the first wife of Thomas Quayle the ship builder, was born in the Isle of Man, about 1812, and died in September 1860. They married in Cleveland, May 21, 1835.

1850 Cleveland first ward census # 676 (children all born Ohio): Thomas Quayle 38 ship carpenter IOM; Eleanor 38 IOM; Thomas 14; William 12; George 8; Charles 5; Matilda 4; Caroline 2; Margaret Cannon 28 IOM

Margaret's age in the census is wrong for her to have been baptized in 1819, but close--Perhaps, being unmarried, she shaved a few years off her age.

I notice that James and Philip Cannon were both in Rockport in 1860. (Did not find them in 1850)

I wonder if the parents immigrated.

Thanks again.

Lois
