Garrett to USA???

I am researching the descendants of Edmund Garrett (1804 - 1866) and Catherine Quirk (1808 - 1903). Their son John is christened 30 July 1849 at Kirk German, Isle of Man.

We can track him through 1851 and 1861 censuses in the Isle of Man with his parents, but after that he "disappears". We can find no record of his death in the Isle of Man.

On the 1880 US Census there is a John Garrett age 30 at Alban, Nuckolls, Nebraska who is shown as born England and both parents born England - but often the US Census does not recognize the Isle of Man as separate from England.

I have seen a tree prepared by a US researcher which shows this John Garrett as the son of Edmund and Catherine, but there was no supporting evidence or references so it may well have been a case of "best fit".

The U.S John Garrett married Leonora Breckenridge (born abt 1859 Nebraska) in Sarpy Co. Nebraska on 23 March 1877. A marriage certificate should be able to confirm whether John Garrett is a Manx pioneer of someone from England.

Has anyone else been researching this family or have access to any other information. If you are related to John Garrett and he is the son of Edmund and Catherine I have a lot of information which you are welcome to have.
