Re: T A Unsworth
In Response To: Re: T A Unsworth ()

The IGI appeared to be off-line earlier but once I could check I found the IGI gives a marriage to Margaret Radcliffe at Braddan on 1 July 1848, with a son George William christened 6 May 1849 also at Braddan; no further children appear in the IGI. The family do not appear in 1851 or 1861 censuses (at least not in the index). According to the 1881 census eldest daughter, Catherine Ann, was born in Douglas in 1854 and a son Thomas in 1858 (Thomas Archer buried Douglas Cemetery 1924 aged 66); there is also a burial of a Walker Radcliffe Unsworth aged 2 at Braddan 30 April 1861

Thus it would appear he came to the Island pre 1848 (there was an influx of printers c.1840 to exploit the Manx/UK postal regulations but he does not appear to be in the 1841 census) - why he (and family) is missing from the 1851 and 1861 census indices is a bit of a mystery.
