Ballaqueena/Ballaqueen(e)y, Rushen

Where is the property of Ballaqueena, Rushen located please? Was it a Mill property or farming property?

It appears to have been owned by the Taylor family in the early 1700s, specifically Richard Taylor who died there in 1745.

Two of Richard Taylor's daughters, Christian & Jane, married William Qualtroughs and I am attempting to see if these marriages were ones of "convenience", in an attempt to merge properties etc, and also find out who one of the William Qualtroughs was as I have no parents for him at this time.

William Qualtrough married Jane Taylor in Rushen 1753; he was bapt abt 1714, s/o Henry Qualtrough & Elinor Waterson of Kentraugh Mill, Rushen. This William Q died in 1778 at Kentraugh Mill. (William & Jane Qualtrough had 2 daughters, Eleanor who married Peter Kennish of Santon and who eventually inherited a share of the Kentraugh Mill; and Jane who married Matthias Corran of Ballamenagh, Braddan/Onchan, which was also a Mill connection I believe)

Another William Qualtrough married Christian Taylor in 1737 at Rushen and he died in 1782, but his will gives no details as to his background, occupation or where he lived at death. I do not yet know who this William is....

Chas Crebbin

Wm Clucas

I would like to attempt to establish who this latter William was, and perhaps through a property connection this may come (Wm & Christian Qualtrough had 3 sons, William who died single in 1763, Joseph who married Joney Cubbon and established a boat building business in Port St Mary and John who married Margaret Qualtrough als Crebbin, widow, of Kentraugh Mill.)

All information and any suggestions welcome.
