Unless one is obtaining certificates after mid-1870s there really isn't a lot more helpful info obtained than is available in the IGI.
The Mormons have filmed all of the parish records and they are available at local Family History Centers (they rent from Salt Lake).
For less than $5 one can rent the film and make photo copies of the relevant parish entries. The films are by parish so if one has multiple folks in a time period, all can be copied.
